My philosophy of counseling includes working with clients to find ways to promote health and resiliency. I believe it’s important to help people fulfill their own potential, live their own truth and therefore improve their overall emotional well-being.
To assist each client’s journey towards well-being, I use a wide variety of short-term, goal-oriented treatment approaches towards problem-solving. Techniques include cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems theory and addiction theory to assist clients in learning how they perceive themselves and to learn new ways of thinking and reacting to life’s challenges.

My Training Experience

I earned a Master of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of West Georgia in 1990 and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Shorter University in 1985.
Over the past thirty-four years, I have worked with adults and adolescents with behavioral health issues in a variety of settings. My experience includes serving individuals in community mental health centers, substance abuse recovery programs, inpatient hospital settings, crisis stabilization units and residential treatment programs. I worked as a therapist in private practice agencies, as a trauma counselor in the hospital emergency department and have been a therapist with Pathways since 2017. I also worked for over twelve years at the State level as an administrator with statewide oversight of behavioral health and Medicaid programs.

My Client Focus

Adolescents/Teenagers, 12-18, and Adults 19+.

My Category Specialties

Depression, Anxiety, Substance Use, LGBT issues.
